Last week President of DTU, Anders Bjarklev, and President of KAIST University in South Korea, Nam Pyo Suh, signed four new cooperative agreements that allows students from the two universities to obtain a dual degree in the fields of Engineering Design, Applied Mechanics, Electrical Engineering and Engineering Acoustics.
This means that students from for example DTU Elektro will be offered the opportunity to study for one year in South Korea.
In April this year Associate Professor, Ole Ravn, and Associate Professor, Finn Agerkvist, among others, visited the Mechanical Department at KAIST University to finalise the dual degree agreement for the two master programmes Electrical Engineering and Engineering Acoustics. It was a fruitful meeting for both parties and a good opportunity to exchange knowledge useful for the future cooperation.
The new agreements gives the students at DTU Elektro a unique opportunity to get a degree from one of the leading technical universities in the world, and at the same time the students receive a valuable insight into Asian society. The wish is to make the students more attractive for Danish companies wishing to cooperate with Asia.
Hopefully the first Danish master students will be able to be enrolled at KAIST University already this summer, while students from KAIST will probably have to wait till the summer 2013. However, a small delegation of Korean students will take the chance to visit DTU by participating in “Grøn Dyst” in June this year.
